The Azerbaijani parliament approved a proposal to open an embassy in Israel.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid welcomed the move, saying “Azerbaijan is an important partner of Israel and home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the Muslim world. The decision to open an embassy reflects the depth of the relationship between our countries. This move is the result of the Israeli government’s efforts to build strong diplomatic bridges with the Muslim world”
Defense Minister Benny Gantz spoke with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and thanked him for Azerbaijan’s decision to become the first Shi’ite country to open an embassy in Israel.
“I spoke this morning with my friend, Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. I thanked him on behalf of Israel’s defense establishment for the important decision taken by the Azeri parliament, to open an embassy in Israel,” Gantz said.
According to the information provided by the Azerbaijan government, Israeli nationals can apply online for an e-Visa that allows them to stay in Azerbaijan for up to 30 days from the arrival date.
Work Visa in Azerbaijan
In Azerbaijan, it is the responsibility of the employer to obtain work permits for any foreign employees. Employees will need to provide any relevant documents to the employer so that they may be submitted during the application process.
The employer will need to provide evidence to the State Migration Service that the foreign employee position cannot be filled by any eligible job seekers in Azerbaijan. After receiving all of the necessary documents, the State Migration Service will make a decision on the issuance of a work and temporary residence permit.
Azerbaijan’s work permits are typically issued within 30 working days. In the event that a work permit application is rejected, the applicant will receive a notification in writing within five business days Upon approval, the applicant may travel to Azerbaijan and begin working.
