In response to the ongoing security situation in Israel, the Population and Immigration Authority announced on June 17, 2025, that several types of visas for foreign nationals that were valid as of June 12, 2025, will be automatically extended until September 30, 2025.

This measure, taken without the need for any action from visa holders, is meant to provide legal and administrative relief for those lawfully present in the country during a time of national emergency.

The following are the relevant visa categories that are effected by the concession:

  • General B/1 Work Visa
  • B/2 Tourist Visa
  • B/4 Volunteer Visa
  • A/1 Temporary Resident
  • A/2 Student Visa (excluding agricultural trainees)
  • A/3 Clergy/Religious Workers Visa
  • A/4 Accompanying Family Member Visa
  • A/5 Temporary Resident Status
  • DCO (Stay Permit for Palestinians) for Family Unification and Humanitarian Cases

This automatic extension reflects a proactive and humanitarian approach by the Israeli authorities, ensuring that foreign nationals are not left in legal limbo due to circumstances beyond their control. The policy is intended to prevent individuals with soon-to-expire visas from falling into unlawful status, which could otherwise lead to significant legal and practical complications.

Importantly, the announcement clarifies that no application or formal request is required—the extension will apply across the board to all relevant visa holders, except in specific cases that require individual review or intervention. For employers, legal advisors, and HR managers, this development offers a welcome sense of clarity and operational stability during an uncertain time.
