Due to the geopolitical security situation and the deterioration of relations between Israel and Turkey, the Israeli government has announced the closure of its consulates in Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara) to the public until further notice. This measure, taken as part of security precautions and a response to diplomatic tensions between the countries, also affects the process of issuing work and residency visas for Turkish citizens in Israel.

Update on the Work Visa Issuance Process

Previously, Turkish citizens seeking a work visa in Israel were required to physically visit the embassy in Ankara or the consulate in Istanbul to submit the necessary documents. Now, due to the closure of these diplomatic missions, the process has changed and is conducted remotely through Israel’s Ministry of Interior. Under this new procedure, applicants must submit all required documents—including a birth certificate, police clearance certificate, and valid medical examinations—to the Ministry of Interior, which then forwards them for review and approval by the embassy.

“Emergency Visa” – A Temporary Solution for Entry into Israel

Upon receiving embassy approval, the worker is issued an “Emergency Visa,” which serves as a temporary permit for boarding a flight and arriving in Israel. This visa is typically valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and is intended to facilitate entry into Israel under the current circumstances.

These changes aim to ensure the continued employment of Turkish workers in Israel while maintaining the necessary procedures and adapting them to the evolving diplomatic and security realities.
