A sudden suspension of operations at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport has caused widespread flight delays and cancellations affecting several international airlines, including United Airlines, Air France, Etihad, Austrian Airlines, Wizz Air, Aegean Airlines, and Azerbaijan Airlines.
The disruption follows escalating missile threats from Yemen, prompting Israeli authorities to temporarily halt airport activity as a precautionary measure. This development has impacted both incoming and outgoing flights, leading to significant inconvenience for travelers and heightened uncertainty in air travel to and from Israel.
The flight disruptions come amid rising regional tensions, particularly involving long-range missile threats targeting central Israel. In response, Israel’s security forces activated defense systems, and civil aviation authorities suspended airport operations for a brief period to ensure public safety.
The affected airlines were either forced to delay or reroute their flights. Although normal operations resumed later, residual delays and changes continue to affect flight schedules.
