The Philippine government has recently decided not to allow workers to travel to Israel for the Health Care Industry, arguing that the payment Israel was charging the employees was higher than allowed by local law. Only Philippines Health workers who were approved before the new regulations came into effect can arrive.
Efforts are being carried out to resolve the diplomatic issue.
The Population and Immigration Authority is trying to reassure: “Everyone has an interest in this continuing, the entry of workers has not stopped and the Health Care patients currently do not feel any harm”
At the heart of the discussion is the Philippine Government’s argument whereby the Israeli regulations allow collecting from each Health Care worker sent to Israel a sum of NIS 5,800. The Philippines claims that this amount is higher than allowed by local law.
