Visa Types
A - Diplomats and Foreign Government Officials
A visas are designed for Diplomats and Foreign Government Officials. Visa A-1 is for Ambassadors, Congress men and senior Diplomats. A-2 visa is designed for Foreign Government Officials, and A-3 is for personal employees, attendants of A visa holders.
B1/B2 - Visitor Visas - Business and Pleasure
D – Sea and Air Crew
D visas are meant for Sea craft and Aircraft crew. The visa is granted at the consulate individually for each crew member. This is so a security check can be done on each and every crew member.
E-1/E-2 Treaty Traders and Treaty Investors
E-1 is given as treaty trader, and E-2 as treaty investors, for investments between USA and the applicant's home country. The visa is given based on the company's ability to fulfill certain constraints, and the worker's different qualifications, and is not constraint to a quote. This visa is considered a convenient and good temporary visa.
F-1 - Student Visas
This is a visa for an academic student. The visa is valid as long as the student is on the program that was approved by the academic institution in the beginning of the visa process, and during the qualification period (internship) after receiving the diploma. The ability to work while studying is limited for the student and is not allowed for their spouse.
H - Temporary Workers
The group of H visas is aimed for temporary foreign workers who arrive in the USA sponsored by their American employer. Visa H-1B (specialty occupation) is the most common of the H visa and is referred to as the High-Tech visa.
Visa H-2A is geared towards seasonal agricultural workers, Visa H-2B is aimed towards a non-agricultural worker, and H-3 is for workers in training in different fields.
I-1 Foreign Media, Press and Radio
This visa is designed for people who work in the Media, Press, Journalists, Radio, Television and their support and crew. Nowadays these people are bounded by this visa even if the work is for only several days.
J-1 Exchange Visitor
This visa if for people who are working on an exchange program including training while working such as hotel workers, and hospitality industry, doctors, etc. There are many different type of the J-1 visa, some are meant for students at high degrees. J-1 visa allows the spouse to apply for a work visa.
K - Fiancé / Spouse (Married Abroad)
The different K visas are aimed to enable temporary entrance to fiancés and spouses of US citizens. For example, K-1 visa is designed for fiancés' of US citizens, and K-3 visa is designed for spouses of US citizens that are waiting for an approval of their petition for permanent residency.
L - Intra-company Transferee
L-1 visa is designed for employees of international companies that require relocation to the US. The visa is also suitable for managers, that receive L-1A visa, and for employees who hold special knowledge, that receive L-1B visa. Spouses receive L-2 visa, which enables them to apply for EAD – Employment Authorization Document.
O - Foreign workers with Extraordinary Ability
O-1 visa is aimed for people of extraordinary achievements in fields such as science, business, entertainment, art, and sports. This visa enables in certain cases to bring assistants under O-2 visa, and spouse and children under O-3 visa.
R - Religious Workers
This visa is designed for religious workers and therefore requires a USA sponsorship of religious factor and suitable religious background. The visa can be applied for Rabbis, Cantors, Hebrew teachers, and also people from religious services, such as butcheries ("Shohatim").
EB-1 Priority Workers – People with Extraordinary Ability
Secondary prosecution of green card, available for a small amount of people with special professional skills. This prosecution is exempted from Labor Certification inquiry, and enables submission for green card independently, without sponsorship of an American company.
EB-1/2 Priority Workers – Professors and Researchers
This secondary prosecution of green card is meant for professors and researchers with international recognition, whose work is expected to contribute to the welfare of the society in the US. This prosecution is exempted from Labor Certification inquiry.
EB-1/3 Priority Workers - Multi-National Managers
This secondary prosecution of green card is meant for multi-national managers, usually suitable for holders of L-1A visa. This prosecution is exempted from Labor Certification inquiry.
EB-2/1 Advance Degree Professional
Subcategory that is aimed for people who hold a masters or PHD. You may request exemption from Labor Certification based on future donation to the US Company.
EB-2/2 Aliens of Exceptional Ability
What characterizes this sub category is that the achievements may not be measured by an objective criterion or based on the professional knowledge and the marketing for it. You may request exemption from Labor Certification based on future donation to the US Company.
EB-3 Skilled/Professional worker
Common category for receiving a green card. Labor Certification is mandatory in this process.
EB-4 Religious workers
Category aimed for religious workers. There is no request of a Labor Certification, and is a smooth transition from an R-1 visa.
EB-5 Investor
This category is for investors who are investing in the US. The investment is essential and adds a minimal requested amount of new jobs in the work field. Due to large amounts of fraud, there is great suspicion surrounding this visa.
